Course Description
Business is a diverse course that responds to growing demand of marketable professionals and technical skills to areas pertaining business management and Accounting field and other related matters such as Auditing and Taxation. The course includes both online and physical classes. Graduates of this course may be positioned to the following grounds of careers within the field of the business such as business administrators, clerks and auditors, Human resource personnel, secretaries, front office, etc
Course Structure
The course is divided into two structures depending on duration and examination body. The structures are professional and short courses. Professional courses are examined by KNEC and include;
1. Artisan
This course takes 1 year study duration .The course is examined by KNEC and the minimum grade required is D- in KCSE.The course is done in 1 year equivalent to 3 terms.
2. Certificate
Certificate in business course takes 2 years to study .The course is examined by KNEC and minimum grade required is D plain. The course is done in two modules;
- Craft module 1: Takes 1 year equivalent to 3 terms
- Craft module 1: Takes 1 year equivalent to 3 terms
3. Diploma
A diploma course in business takes 3 years. The course is examinable by KNEC and the minimum grade required is C minus .The course is done in 3 modules;
- Diploma module 1: Takes 1 year equivalent to 3 terms
- Diploma module 2: Takes 1 year equivalent to 3 terms
- Diploma module 3: Takes 1 year equivalent to 3 terms
Accounting Department
The course is divided into three structures depending on duration and examination body. The structures are certificate, Diploma and professional courses. Professional courses are examined by KASNEB and include;
Certificate level
Certificate in accounting course takes 8 months study duration .The course is examined by KASNEB and minimum grade required is D Plain. The course is done in two levels;
- CAMS 1 and CAMS 2 each takes at least 4 months.
Diploma Level
Diploma in accounting course takes a minimum of 1 year. The course is examined by KASNEB and minimum grade required is C minus. The course is done in three levels;
- ATD 1, 2 and 3 each takes at least 4months study duration.
Professional level
Professional level in accounting takes a minimum of 1 year. The course has three levels. The grade required is C plain and is examined by KASNEB. The course levels are;
- Foundation level (section 1 and section 2) each takes a duration of 4 months
- Intermediate level (section 3 and section 4) each section takes a duration of 4 months
- Advanced level (section 5 and 6) each section takes a duration of 4 months.
Short Courses
The short courses in business are those that are internally trained and examined by Uwezo college .These courses take 2- 3months study duration.
They include;
- Business plan Writing
- Quick books
- Entrepreneurship and business management
- Front office.
- Business proposal Writing.
